My big, fat goals
This ripped mathematician told me that I should have big, fat goals. The human condition is striving and having big goals give you a reason to wake up in the morning.
So, here are my big goals:
- Become a rich, non-famous person. So make at least 1 million USD a year
- Get ripped-- be in the best physical shape for someone my age and my size. Follow a consistent training schedule. This will become easier once I get rich-- I could just hire a personal trainer
- Build a happy, healthy family with R. Treat our parents with care and love as they age
These are all my goals. I don't really care about anything else. Everything else is lower priority to these 3 mega goals.
So, when I look at my life and see how I spend my time, I realize that most of my time is not being spent in service to these goals:
- I work 8 hours a day making less than $150k per year
- I spend anywhere from 2 hours to 4 hours on YouTube or TikTok or any other kind of content consumption
- I do spend ~1 hour every day exercising but it's done haphazardly. I don't plan my workouts, my meal intake, or anything. I would like to fix this
- I talk to R and my parents for > 1 hour every day
Now, I could look at how I spend my time and categorize them by what I can cut out or optimize and what I can't/don't want to optimize:
- I work 8 hours a day making less than $150k per year
- I could batch my work into 2 chunks of 3 hours of work and try to get the most important work done. I need this job to maintain my earnings and my career
- I could also try increasing the speed at which I work
- practice typing faster
- review where I am wasting time and cut those times out
- I could also try increasing the speed at which I work
- I could batch my work into 2 chunks of 3 hours of work and try to get the most important work done. I need this job to maintain my earnings and my career
- I spend anywhere from 2 hours to 4 hours on YouTube or TikTok or any other kind of content consumption
- I could definitely reduce this to 30 mins - 1 hour per day. I could also do these activities when I am ending my workouts with stairmaster or running
- I do spend ~1 hour every day exercising but it's done haphazardly. I don't plan my workouts, my meal intake, or anything. I would like to fix this
- I would need to plan my workouts and stick to the plan as much as possible
- I talk to R and my parents for > 1 hour every day
- non-negotiable. I would like to continue doing this
Now, to address how to work on getting rich:
- I could spend 1 hour everyday doing something that I think will make me money in the medium to long term:
- I have always wanted to start a fitness YouTube channel in Kannada. I could try to aim for 1 video a week but still spend time every day working on the channel
- I have also wanted to learn android and iOS app developement better so that I could create apps for other people and charge for that
- Seek businesses that are already working, emulate or buy such a business and try to make money that way
That's all I have to say today about my goals. For now, writing this out has given me the inspiration to actually spend time my top big, fat goal everyday.
